ABOUT ALMIRA ZAKY

By combining her one-of-a-kind personality, undeniable passion for music, and love for collaborating with like-minded individuals, Almira Zaky has quickly become a force to be reckoned with. The self-proclaimed “Boss Lady” hails from Herndon, VA where she was heavily influenced by the unique culture and energy of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia area). As a senior studying Public Relations with a Minor in Business at VCU in Richmond, VA, she utilizes every opportunity around her and brings value wherever she goes. Almira has developed a comprehensive ability to flourish among an array of diverse audiences and is able to bring people together by creating unforgettable experiences through the power of music.

Almira’s story starts in 2009, when she began performing all around the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia area) with the Indonesian Kids Performing Arts. By the time she was 13 years old, Almira was already singing for crowds of up to 2,000 people. Music became her outlet, and Almira found her voice through performing. Years later, Almira began attending Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and took her musical talents behind-the scenes, when she became the Assistant Concert Director of the Activities Programming Board at VCU. With this role,  Almira helped make VCU history by selling out over 3,500 tickets for Ramfest 2016: featuring Travis Scott, GoldLink, and Masego. The year after, as Concert Director, one of her events went viral on the social media pages of Complex Magazine, the Shade Room, and WorldStarHipHop, garnering over 5 million views on each platform. Almira now utilizes her keen ear for music and an instinctive sense for public relations and marketing as an intern for the Richmond International Film & Music Festival. She’s also developed an impressive network with the movers and shakers of the music industry and is working on original music with several Grammy-winning producers, engineers and songwriters. Her “Boss Lady” brand extends to appearances around the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia area), where she can be found on a billboard in the Richmond International Airport, hosting events, or as a brand ambassador for several clothing brands.

Most know Almira for her confidence, optimism, and determination, but she hasn’t always been this way. Throughout her life, Almira has struggled to find her identity as an Indonesian-Muslim Woman in America. She describes it as “balancing three worlds when you only have two shoulders to hold yourself up.” Now, Almira strongly embraces her background because she sees how unique she really is. Almira has learned to use these insecurities as fuel towards fulfilling her purpose as a young professional in the music industry. She hopes to be an award-winning singer/songwriter and own her own record label one day.

Almira’s Myers Briggs personality type is an ENFJ, which means that she is Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Judging. Together make her socially energetic, an abstract thinker, considerate towards feelings and an organized planner. Almira is a strong believer in leadership and self-empowerment and finds fulfillment in inspiring others to be the best version of themselves. She wears her passions, interests, and ambitions on her sleeve and thrives in fast-paced environments. Almira has never been afraid to dream big and is committed to making them all come true; this 21-year-old is just getting started.
